Hello,
I have been using FreeNAS for several years in a simple setup with 2 1TB drives in a RAID 1 config. The host machine is an old tower with 2GB of RAM. I read the notices that I should upgrade from my older version to the newest version of NAS4Free, and took the advice.
This is where my problems began.
I backed up all the information to an external drive, and then went through the upgrade process.
The best I could get was for the system to come up, then when I attempted to create the RAID 1 array, got error messages about "adding disks" first.
As of now I haven't had use of my NAS4Free for several months as it won't configure properly.
Is there general advice anyone can provide as to why the upgrade to NAS4Free was so problematic, and should I consider buying a commercial NAS box just so I can have something up and running?
Don't get me wrong, I did not have any issues with FreeNAS, and only attempted the upgrade due to the posts advising to do so on these forums.
Also there is probably a lot of information required to give you a more accurate picture, so please ask the question(s) and I will answer with the proper info.
I would even be willing to ship the tower to one of you for configuration and setup, so that at least I could have a working NAS box.
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide regarding this issue. I'm sure I'm not the only attempted FreeNAS convert to have experienced this.

Re: Failed Upgrade Assistance Request
Did you try also a fresh installation on an empty USB stick?
Here you just can import your Freenas config file.
Did you try to use the clear config and import software raid disks in Disks | Management?
