Can't mount NTFS after upgrade

Post by MiG098 »

Hi everybody,

besides the ZFS pool and UFS HDD I've got 2 HDDs NTFS-formatted USB-connected in my NAS.
They worked good for reading, not so good for writing (nobody promissed, I see).
After latest upgrade neither these 2 HDDs nor even a flash drive NTFS-formatted are recognized by NAS4Free anymore.
They all are "Unknown or unformatted" under Disk|Management.

Any ideas?

Hi,

have you tried to connect these drives to a windows-PC? Maybe The File-System ist a little damaged after you tried to write?

Also you should really think about changing the format of the hdds. NTFS make simply no sense with N4F, if you need to go with NTFS maybe it would be wiser to connect the drives to a windows-pc and let the sync done by some windows tool.

Best regards

Thank you for reply, Eldor1.

Yes, I've ran chkdsk after each try to be sure FS is OK.
I realize that NTFS is an alien FS for nas4free but I don't want to change FS for my two NTFS-hdds since they contain movies and my mediaplayer can play directly from NTFS and can't understand USF or ZFS.
Of course I can connect these hdds to mediaplayer directly but it simply more comfortable when they are shared in my LAN like they were before the latest nas4free upgrade.
I just want to know is NTSF-mounting now a problem for my NAS only or it's global.

Best wishes!
