can't connect to shares

Post by vitis »

hi guys. I've got a situation here. Yesterday power went down so my NAS was running on UPS, then UPS reached 30% and turned it off. I turned it back on, it started fine but I can't browse my files. RAID seems fine (complete calm), shares are set up too. But my /mnt folder is empty. I tried to restore config, but it didn't help. Any suggestions to get it working again? Thanks

EDIT: Just found an error in mount points. It's just Error - Retry, but when I go to Log I see this information:

Code: Select all

Jun 22 12:19:19	nas4free	root: Error: Failed to mount /dev/raid5/NASp1 using NTFS
Jun 22 12:19:19	nas4free	root: NTFS signature is missing. Failed to mount '/dev/raid5/NASp1': Invalid argument The device '/dev/raid5/NASp1' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS. Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around

Error: Failed to mount /dev/raid5/NASp1 using NTFS
I think your RAID is not in best conditions "Error: Failed to mount /dev/raid5/NASp1 using NTFS"
Should be UFS not NTFS, right?

I have set it to NTFS, because I'm sharing with Windows clients only. I set it up like this about two years ago, because I didn't know that Windows can support any other option available in mount point settings. So for now I think it should be NTFS, but it's not working. I don't I can just change it to UFS now and preserve all data in RAID, am I right?

no, it should be UFS, because Nas4free/BSD has no native support for NTFS.

Anyway, did you try the clear config and import software raid button on Disks|Management

And please post the output of

Diagnostics|Information|Disks

and the dmesg output

Of course you are right. Tried to set UFS and it's working. But then I don't how it was working with a NTFS option for those two years?

Thanks for your help.

don't know what you did in the past, but NTFS is surely not supported in software RAID

for your information. the clients dont case about the filesystem used on nas4free.
the samba protocol is an abstraction and gives the client no access to the files system, but only to the files.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.
