raid0 Creation

Post by gifo »

hello everyone,
i've a littile nas4free box with only 2 sata connections. at the moment i've two different UFS disks running separately, but in a few days i'm going to get a third hard drive similar two one i already have installed.
the objective is obviously setting up a software raid0 (2x1tb seagate st1000dm003).
the question is, do i need to reformat the current installed disk to set up the raid or else?
what are the main steps i need to perform to get the best results?
the raid will be only used for big files (>1gb)

raid 0 is striping. this is not recommended. if one disk dies all your data is lost.

and yes you will need to reformat.
