IPMI assistance required

Post by 030-NL »

To reset my IPMI password on my Supermicro board I need access to the IPMItool. Already installed the tool (pkg_add -r ipmitool) and it runs fine. However I doesn't find the device.

Code: Select all

Could not open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0: No such file or directory
Get Channel Info command failed
Looks like no kernel module(s) are loaded.

Code: Select all

kldstat
Id Refs Address Size Name
 1 15 0xffffffff80200000 1a22920 kernel
 2 1 0xffffffff81c23000 23d298 zfs.ko
 3 2 0xffffffff81e61000 84d0 opensolaris.ko
 4 1 0xffffffff90d6a000 1e3e8 isboot.ko
 5 1 0xffffffff91012000 2c94 geom_nop.ko
If I'm right the kernel module for FreeBSD is called "ipmi". However it's not present and I'm unable to find it. Please assist.

I'm not too familiar with setting up impi access in NAS4free as I usually just access my Supermicro board through web interface from a windows machine. It looks like password shouldn't be too difficult to reset... http://blog.cuongnv.com/2013/08/supermi ... d.html?m=1

Is it possible for you to run impicfg tool from another machine besides NAS4free box?

The kernel module is not available in Nas4Free, therefore a command like 'kldload ipmi' doesn't work.
