Hello,
i'm trying to install a "live usb" version of the .148 nightly x64 image.
only USB pendrive connected(kingston branded one, proven to boot), install menu loads and regardless of the selected option(normal, acpi on, verbose), it "hangs" on "start_init" after a beep but the system is responsive to C-A-D and p0ower button(emits a beep and reboots/shutdown properly, showing the shutdown seq in the last line)

that's the hang screen.
Also tested:
nothing connected but the ODD
HDD connected
HDD+USB connected
different pendrive brand/size
they all result in the same.
Motherboard is Intel D2500HN, latest BIOS
SATA is set as AHCI
all unnecessary devices disabled(audio, parallel and serial ports)
haven't tested safe mode nor a way to see the logs.
any ideas?
upd1: tried safe mode, give some error about ATA(it's all chopped because it shows it in the last line) and then to press a key to abort or reboot, i press a key and it says "rebooting"
also tried IDE mode, again, same problem

After much troubleshooting with the help of the guys in the IRC channel and Zoon especially i managed to pinpoint the problem itself, here are the steps and details:
Turns out it is a video refresh problem, the system is working in the background, but the screen does not scroll past the boot menu (so the 9 point system config menu is active but *not shown*)
i've tested with liveCD, then turned to embedded usb(wrote .IMG to usb drive on win station with physdiskwrite).
After plugging a old pci card, boot log scrolled as it should and menu appeared.
So i used that to configure it and then unplugged the card.
so that's it then, beware of Atom D2000 series, they work but not on local console....
according to wikipedia, the embedded gpu is the intel GMA 3600 which is based on the PowerVR SGX545
