I don't know you but once and again playing a file it stops randomly and after a quick investigation I very often find a broken .avi index.
I've noticed that nas4free comes with ffmpeg installed and that tool should do the job AFAIK.
before I begin to write anything, has anybody found a solution to this problem yet?
I have a large database and check-rebuild manually is not an option, it really has to be a batch processing everything.
Thanks!

Re: Script to repair video files?
one option is to find "check video for error" in google and use external program ( in win for example) to do the job, you only need to select the apropiate share ( eg: one folder that contain the video files that you want to check).
Of course this approach have the problem of LAN Banwith (intensive use of LAN), but is the easy way for people that are not familiar with BSD & ffmpeg & CLI.
PD: If you are still interesting to do in Nas4Free perhaps this page helps you: http://606u.dir.bg/avicheck/ if works for you please consider to write a [HOWTO]
