Hi

Just to be sure and don't crash everything on my NAS

Could you help me and describ procedure to replace one hard disk in a ZFS pool

Could I only unplug old and plug new one? I believe answer is NO

Best bet is to power down the machine, swap the drive then restart.

Once the machine is available you can set the drive settings under Disks -> Management then goto ZFS-> Tools & select replace. Click the drive that was replaced & let the resilver run.

Not to highjack this thread but... I've got a 'degraded' situation here. Running a couple of 3Tb drives and one has died on me. How can I tell which one is the faulty disk? Total newb Q but hey, need to know! tia

Just check the serial number

To add some details ....

From Disks -> Management check your SMART status that will show the serial numbers of your drives.

Then power down and look at each drive for the corresponding serial number that is failing.

If your other drives are of similar age might want to look into having a spare on hand.
