Recompiling 9.2 release for Broadcom BCM57712

The folks that wrote the Broadcom driver for the ( BCM57712 ) said they backported it into the 9.2 release. For some reason I can see the device but the BXE driver is not loading.

How does one rebuild the 9.2 release so I can do something like edit out of the KERNEL the BXE driver and attempt to build the support I need into a loadable module. I am not a FreeBSD heavyweight and after some searching I could not find a silver bullet answer on how to tell the kernel at boot time not to use a driver that is built in. Don't know if it's possible.

And "NO", if I use ( 10.x ) another driver that is currently loading under 9.2 will not work on ( 10.x ) hence trying to fix the BXE driver in 9.2.
