Upgrade FreeNas 9.2 to Nas4Free

Post by Powerduck »

Hello,

some time ago I checked Nas4Free and decided to go with FreeNas as the S3 sleep function was not working with my board (it did not shut down). I am now on:
Build FreeNAS-9.2.0-RELEASE-x64 (ab098f4) on USB-Stick
Platform AMD E-350 Processor
Memory 3801MB
Board is AsRock E350M1 with 4 GB
ZFS Pool 1,5 TB with 3 WD disks (each 1TB)

As FreeNas Update tp 9.3 now requires 8 GB RAM I would need to by more RAM which I want to a avoid.

What would I need to do to migrate?
Update or new installation?
How to migrate the ZFS-Pool?
Or format the disks and copy the Backup back?
Backup is available.
What WOL and S3 sleep modus work with Nas4Free with my board now?
Should I use still the USB stick?

Sorry for my questions, but I am not the specialist in Nas4Free...

Rgds Jens

There might be a problem as the ZFS-Version of FreeNAS ands NAS4Free might be not compatible , so migraton might not be possible and copying the pool will be needed then...

If I was in this situation, I would likely back up all data on the system, then install N4F fresh. then see if importing the disks will work. I think even if the importing did work, I would still rather start fresh with the file system and from empty disks.
