NAS4Free Folders Disappeared

Post by alexanderbird »

Hi

I recently changed the Group permissions on some folders on my Nas Box using winscp.
I changed 2 of them without any issue, however when I changed the next 2 it came up with an error that it was unable to change the permissions, the 2 folders then disappeared.
I also noted that the usage on that disk has gone from having around 300gb spare to 800gb.

As far as I can tell the folder has gone without any trace taking all the data with it.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get the folder back.

The NAS box has 4x 1tb hdd's running 2xRAID 1

Thanks
Alexander

if you login as root can you see the data?

Can you copy the data from a backup? Miht be easier than fixing/ finding the original.

Even in logged in via sftp as root I am unable to find the files.

Whilst I have limited backups of the data - it is not practical to recover from them.

Do you have any idea where the files may be / how to go about recovering them.

Thanks
Alexander
