NAS4Free on laptop lid closing

Post by Maxi489 »

First off all im new to this server and i have no idea if this thread is in the right section so sorry for that! So I just installed NAS4Free on my nearly 10 years old fujitsu siemens amilo a1645 with sempron 3100+. It's a really old and bad laptop so this is the only purpose for it. Everything is working fine and i love it. It's a perfect NAS for me! Only problem is that I don't know how to make it not to go to sleep just turn off the screen when I close the lid. Any solutions? Thank you! :)

You can possibly adjust it in the BIOS, or (but I am not sure if this works) you can try via shell:

Code: Select all

sysctl hw.acpi.lid_switch_state="None"
If it works you can enter
hw.acpi.lid_switch_state="None"
to your loader.conf via System|Advanced|loader.conf or
System|Advanced|sysctl.conf

But anyway, notebooks often have very specialized hardware and don't make good NAS Servers :roll:

NAS 2: Backup: HP N54L, 8 GB ECC RAM, 4x4 TB WD Red, RaidZ1, NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 embedded
