Reboot Loop - another one?

Post by vindigator »

My system also goes into a constant reboot loop without any (that I know of) clear cause.

See the screenshots below, does anybody have any clue :(

I tried unplugging some of the other disks but it sticks on the welcome message and does no longer display all the characters correctly, really strange.

Hi,
Can you provide some more information.
What are your system specs? what nas4free version, embedded, full or livecd/usb etc.

It looks like this may be a corrupt disk/key?
System specs: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4 -embedded on Samsung 860 EVO 256GB and Supermicro X10SL7-F w / Bios v3.2, IPMI v.03.86 / CPU E3-1241 v3 @ 3.50GHz - 32GB Crucial DDR3L 1600mhz ECC 1.35v , LSI 2308 on PH20.00.07.00 IT mode, Storage: 5x Western Digital Red (WD30EFRX) raidz

Development system is same system in virtualbox.

It look as broken rootfs on full version.
In this case boot in single user mode and run fsck for /

I have a P5Q SE motherboard, running 4Gb of ram and using multiple (2 SATA 1 other ATA)disks for storage.

I tried removing all my storage disks to see if it would allow me to keep the system online but without succes.

I have an old 80Gb ATA connected harddisk which I use only for the installation files (which might have caused the issue.)
So I did a full reinstall on that disk, but soon after the reinstall I again got strange characters in the bootscreen, it was as if it was randomly replacing characters with others. L1k3 l33tscr1pt if u know what I mean, is it an error in the Harddisk, is it the gfx card, is it the motherboard, I don't know.

However, with the full reinstall (even with the strange chars being displayed) on my dedicated HD I could keep the system up and running after which I hooked up my storage HD one by one and backed up all my data to an external drive.

because of not having enough in depth knowledge of how to handle these kinds of errors (and maybe hardware issues) (this was my 3rd reinstall, 3rd time it crashed on me without any clear cause) I kinda lost faith in my hardware setup/nas4free so I went out and got me a Synology :o
