Dear All
I have a nas with a embedded version for backup.
I use on this nas the nayla version 1283.
I follow this
http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=faq:0046
And I change the clog parameter
But nothing happens, except that in the menu diagnostic , all the log are empty.
And in the new folder, that I choose, no files
Any idea ?

Please post the exact path you use, and copy & paste the clog_logdir you define ( a screen capture to see if you define it in correct webGUI page) and tell us what is your mount point and permissions for this path ( ls -l in path must be enought to see)
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Re: Clog
Hello
I have
Variable: clog_logdir
Value: /mnt/data/gestion/log
Description: Location log
It is in the advanced parameters of webgui, the 'rc.conf' view.
I will manage the ls command when I will arrive at home

Re: Clog
try to reboot to be sure that changes in clog_logdir are used.
PD: revise permission in /mnt/data/gestion/log root must have enought write permision on this folder

Re: Clog
I installed the 1310 version (embedded and not full installation) and after creation of the variable, the reboot solves the problem.

Re: [notSOLVED] Clog
what is the correct way in 9.3x to change the default clog size of each specified log to bigger value? (embedded)
can somebody post a "sed" example of changing the value in /etc/rc.d/clog during starting please?
I have tested the change logfile location, but even if the location is changed to /mnt/m the clog is active...
ls -la /mnt/m
drwxrwxrwx+ 4 root wheel 12 Feb 13 18:18 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 512 Feb 13 18:18 ..
-rw------- 1 root wheel 32768 Feb 14 08:50 daemon.log
-rw------- 1 root wheel 32768 Feb 13 18:18 ftp.log
drwxrwx---+ 4 root wheel 4 Feb 11 13:37 home
-rw-r--r--+ 1 root wheel 32768 Feb 13 18:18 lastlog
-rw------- 1 root wheel 32768 Feb 13 18:18 rsyncd.log
-rw------- 1 root wheel 32768 Feb 13 18:18 smartd.log
-rw------- 1 root wheel 32768 Feb 13 18:25 sshd.log
-rw------- 1 root wheel 262144 Feb 14 08:50 system.log
and in /etc/rc.d/clog you can see
that it should be checked against the /var/log

Re: [SOLVED] Clog
solution for resizing clog on syslog default log files:
system/advanced/command scripts - preinit
it is fine also to adjust the rc.conf varsize from 128m to 192m
the new xmd device should compress the logs in ram anyway...
8388608 is the new size so adjust it as you need (8MB)
system/advanced/command scripts - preinit
Code: Select all
sed -e "s/262144/8388608/g" < /etc/rc.d/clog | sed -e "s/32768/8388608/g" > /etc/rc.d/clog.new | chmod 755 /etc/rc.d/clog.new | mv /etc/rc.d/clog.new /etc/rc.d/clogthe new xmd device should compress the logs in ram anyway...
