Re: list of tower cases with top-to-bottom drive bays
I have been using a few of the Norco cases and I am VERY impressed. Out of 5 cases, I have seen no issues. Well built and well ventilated. I assume the drive cages are of a similar quality.

Re: list of tower cases with top-to-bottom drive bays
looks cool, but in Europe they are around EUR 138 per piece.
I may put this one also into consideration, perhaps less features but does sufficiently the job for less than EUR 25, but only a 4 in 3 cage....

Re: list of tower cases with top-to-bottom drive bays
Are there similar product, but external with a single eSATA connector and internally an expander, so that I can expand my server beyond the capacity of my case? It is important of course to have each drive presented to the OS as single one, so that ZFS can manage them freely.
HP Microserver N40L, 8 GB ECC, 2x 3TB WD Red, 2x 4TB WD Red

Re: list of tower cases with top-to-bottom drive bays
I know them, last time I checked they usually presented all the HDDs as a single device to the OS.
I will check the one you suggested, maybe it's different.

Re: list of tower cases with top-to-bottom drive bays
You can also go budget way with Zalman ZM-T2 (£17.99 delivered from Amazon) case and Sedna SE-HDD-S01 stand (£6.00 delivered from WAE+):
The case has also got 2 other mounting points for 3.5" HDD and 1x2.5".
You cannot go wrong with £24!
