LSI 9207-8i Firmware-Update

Post by fe_ »

Hello,

i want to update the firmware of my LSI 9207-8i HBA via the sas2flash.exe-tool on a windows7 system. Its a HBA and not a RAID-Controller, but she doing should be the same.

I have already checked "SAS2Flash Reference Guide" but some points are still unclear for me:

- have i to update the firmware AND the BIOS (sas2flash.exe -o -f <firmware> -b <bios>) ?
- have i first to erase the current firmware (and BIOS) before i performe the update (sas2flash.exe -o -e 1 or sas2flsh -o -e 6)?

Thanks in advance!

Its from 2011 but the bat-files on this site do

sas2flash_x86.exe -ufirmware SAS9201-16i-FW-Backup.fw
sas2flash_x86.exe -ubios SAS9201-16i-Backup-BIOS.rom

sas2flash_x86.exe -l Flashlog.txt -o -f 9201-16i_it.bin -b mptsas2.rom

-> backup and update firmware+BIOS!

Thanks!

I just picked up a LSI SAS 9207-8i to replace one of the M1015 in my NAS. I was wondering if I can use P20 IT firmware with 1391 or P16 is the max NAS4Free driver would support?
NAS #1 - 11.2.0.4 - Omnius (revision 6625) - SuperMicro X10SL7-F w/ 24GB ECC - LSI SAS 9207-16i - 2x RAIDZ1 (10x3TB) Pools and 1x (2x4TB) Stripe Pool
NAS #2 - 11.2.0.4 - Omnius (revision 6625) - SuperMicro X10SLM-F w/32GB ECC - LSI SAS 9207-8i (RAID10) - IBM M1015-IT Mode (RAID10)

its better to use the same firmware as the driver.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.
