Why has Anonymous Samba access been dropped in new versions?

Post by jamaroney »

CIFS/SMB
========
Authentication has changed
Only Local User or Active Directory can be selected.
Anonymous access has been dropped!

I LIKED Anonymous access. Was this a matter of someone else deciding for all??

I am most reluctant to upgrade while this limitation exists in new versions.

SMB4 Do not Support anonymous access. If you want annoymous access do not upgrade to latest N4F that use SAMBA 4

Yes, it worked. Very easy - thanks!
Define Authentication as "Local User" and in Advanced section "Map to guest" select "Bad user - non existing users"
