[SOLVED] Loosing connection!

Post by stayhard »

Hi!

This is my first time with Nas4Free, ive installed it and the webgui and samba share works fine. BUT when I trie to transfer a file to my server it loosing the connection, everything works fine until I transfer something. And when the connection is lost, I need to physically push the power button on the server to kill it and then start it.

Info about the server:
CPU: i3 550
RAM: 2x2Gb@1333mhz
Power: 250w
Mobo: Acer Aspire M3910
OS: NAS4Free 9.3.0.2 - Nayla
USB OS: 16Gb with 4Gb swap
HDD: 320Gb UFS
HDD mount: /mnt/Film
Network Media: Autoselect

Created a group, a user, activated CIFS/SMB, static ip and changed SMB3 to NT1.

This I found in the log:

mDNSResponderPosix: mDNSPlatformSendUDP got error 50 (Network is down) sending packet to FF02:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:00FB on interface 192.168.0.107/re0/2

Ok I'll fix the log and post it here soon.

However, I found this
smbd[2179]: STATUS=daemon 'smbd' finished starting up and ready to serve connectionsFailed to fetch record!

I could not see this in the log but i tried to plug in a screen on my server and this is what I found:

xmd_read_segment:972: lz4_decompress error (rv=14)
xmd_delete:1536: read error
xmd_read_segment:972: lz4_decompress error (rv=14)
xmd_delete:1536: read error

Harddrive? Worked fine in my windows computer before I made it into a nas4free server.

I tried again, and the server just died. Not shutdown, it died. An starting to boot, maybe its the power supply? Should work fine with no gpu and only two hdd. But its only on 250w

if the system is not stable its not a good basis for a nas.

run a memtest on your machine.

and the recommended way of running nas4free is the embedded install from a usb stick.

Yeah I know, thats why this is just a test machine for the moment. Testing with two hdd with only a couple of test maps.
I removed one disk, changed lan card and changed the usb with OS on. Testing now, if its not working I will do the memtest, and the OS is installed embedded, without swap (tried with swap too)

I THINK that I found the problem, pretty easy... I had RAM from two different manufactors, removed one of them and now I think its working, hard testing

Probably a conflict between them when they loaded

a new fresh reinstall is a good idea.

save your actual config
do a new fresh reinstall
restore config.

all must work fine and error must dissapear if is because some type of file corruption.
