Upgrade with new hardware.

Post by Alyce »

When I upgrade my NAS i replace some hardware - MB, CPU, Memory, Power.
Now I have this -
MB - Asus B75M-PLUS
CPU - i3-3220 CPU
Memory - 8 GB
Power - 600 Watt
x64-embedded - 9.3.0.2 - Nayla (revision 1349)

I have 3 disks -
1. 3 TB - WDC WD30EZRX - ZFS
2. 3 TB - WDC WD30EURS - UFS
3. 2 TB - WDC WD20EADS - UFS

I install and configure Nas4free from scratch.
And now i have issue with my NAS - it randomly freeze.

Often it freeze on high disks i/o. When moving files or Transmission downloading.

How to find and resolve this problem?
Please help.

start with a memtest.

however you are using zfs on a non ecc system. this is not recommended.

see https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?th ... zfs.15449/
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

please use ZFSkerntune to tune your RAM for ZFS.
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Most common reasons for a system to crash are bad ram and bad power supply. Let memtest run overnight to insure you have a stable system before going any further. (And do not scrub with possible bad and non-ecc ram)
