Samba share folder file permission issue...please help...

Post by Shaj »

Forgive me if there is a solution to this here on the forum. I looked but couldn't find anything. Moreover wasn't sure what exactly I'm supposed to be searching for...

This is the first time I have ever setup a server so please bear with me.

So I've followed the guide here: http://www.anotherwindowsblog.com/2012/ ... twork.html

I created a group 'All'

I created two users, for examples sake, 'A' & 'B'. Followed instructions as per the guide making both users part of group 'All'. Also these users have been given same username and password as their Windows 7 logins. So when they access the shared folder there is no prompt for a login.

Added a folder and changed permission as per the guide to make it part of group 'All' so both users have full access to it.

Now here is the issue and it's really doing my head in...

Both users can create and delete files on this folder. No issues whatsoever. However if user 'A' creates or copies a file to this share folder, user 'B' has read-only access to these files and vice versa.

I just want both users to be able to read and write each others files and I can't get it to work no matter what

Would appreciate so much if someone could help me with this.
