9.1 -> 9.3 inc ZFS

Post by apphoto »

I've been running 9.1.0.1 for a year or so now, all running well.

I was thinking I might update to the newest version (9.3.0.2.1349) as my version seems fairly out of date.
I do run a ZFS pool, raidz1. I remember reading that in a version after 9.1.0.1 there was a new version of ZFS and it needed to be rebuilt? Is that the case? Would I loose any stored data?

To do the update, so I just need to: Backup Config -> Clean Install -> Restore Config ?
Haven't really done an update on the system since install a few years ago.

Current system:
Version 9.1.0.1 - Sandstorm (revision 847)
Build date Sun Aug 18 03:49:41 CEST 2013
Platform OS FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE-p5 (kern.osreldate: 901000)
Platform x64-embedded on AMD Turion(tm) II Neo N40L Dual-Core Processor

your zfs pool is version 28. this will run on 9.3 and my recommendation is not to upgrade the pool.
there is no need to rebuild the pool.

the procedure is like you said.

i did the same about a month ago
