Upgrade from 9.2.x to 9.3x Melanox NIC drivers

Post by krisdz »

Hello,
I have NAS4Free version 9.2.0.1.972 and want upgrade to version 9.3.x but read in the other post that the new version do not have Mellanox drivers.
Is that true that by upgrading the NAS firmware I'll loose the NIC drivers and my 10GB network?
Cheers
Kris

just try the live usb version of 9.3 and see if it works.

if not swap back to your other usb stick with 9.2 and nothing will be changed.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

NAS is a network device which store files using network connectivity.
Without network is no NAS.
What the developers were thinking when removing the most important part of NAS?
From my point of view it is disaster not upgrade.
By upgrading from 9.2 to 9.3 I'll lost my 10GB network and NAS will stop functioning as NAS.
I doubt the intention was to create self containing NAS.

It's not an issue of NAS4Free, it is an issue of FreeBSD. These Mellanox cards are not supported in 9.3.
You will have to go back to 9.2 and wait for N4F based on BSD 10.x
Or try your luck to use the BSD 9.2 or 10.x driver on the 9.3 version

I'll stay on 9.2
In the mean time I'll experiment with the 10.0 drivers on 9.3.
I'm wonder if some else had the same issue?
Thanks for help
Cheers
