I can confirm the mis-ordered disk management. It happened to me after I installed a new drive. ada0 became the new disc, and bumped my two older discs to ada1 and ada2. The zpool started up fine, but the 'status|disks' page was mixed up as well as the 'disks|management' page, much like described by iron31.

How do you fix that? I can foresee that happening to me when I go to add more disks.
Well, I have to say I am actually glad to hear I am not the only one having this issue. It has been a real issue for me when disks are re-ordered and my boot drive is bumped to the end of the order as I have changed disks. I thought maybe it was an issue with the sata controller I was using. I also have a problem then when I try to format the first drive in the order as I get error messages complaining "...Can't format the OS origin disk!".
Does anyone have an idea when there might be a fix? Looking forward and excited to use NAS4free.

Fix disk informations. (Thanks to Paul Barber)
I hope this fix .197 will close the problem

I downloaded 228 and upgraded last evening and have a similar status to report. I am still having the same issue - and it appears this release hasn't fixed the problem.
I search online about your problem.
Marwell controller make troubles not only for Freebsd, also Windows sometimes make BSODs, linux. Need wait for driver.
Also please read post from daoyama
How system see it in /dev folder ?

This mean that to sollution, user can edit by hand config.xml?

ghelfrich919 wrote:For me - I did an update - and was NOT a fresh install
as Daoyama say in previosus post is because you update your config, if you do a fresh install, you don't have this problem.
You can try two ways to resolve:
1- Do a fresh install, and configure all by hand ( do not import your previosly saved config, because is your config the origen of the problem).
2 -Try to delete / order lines in config.xml to have the same order that BSD detect it.

I did a fresh install, and I had the same problem with disks re-ordering as I added them following the install. As suggested above in option #1, I interpreted I would not need to fix or change the config.xml file. Possibly I mis-interpreted this. After a fresh install, do I need to change the config.xml files as I add drives?
It looks like I need to work with the config.xml file to fix and move forward. Is this an on-going issue, or only temporary problem until resolved in a later build/release?
Has anyone found a fix to this yet (running 306)? Is there a way to correct this misaligned disks? I have 2x80GB, 2x1.5TB, 2x2.5TB disks and everything was fine until today when I added 2x3TB drives and now the order of all my disks is messed up. Should I just remove the 3TB drives until there is a fix?

ad7 - 3TB Vol 2 New stayed
This was a fresh install of 306. I had done an upgrade from 7.x and had this problem so I started from scratch. Same issue as before. The addition of drives rearranges the drives for some reason.
Is this an issue that the NAS4Free developers are even looking at? Has anyone officially submitted a Bug Report? If they don't know about it and aren't monitoring the forums then we can't expect it to get fixed and there is surely a problem here that needs to be resolved.
Update : I did check the bug list and it was submitted (details below).
#29 Disk management page bug
Status: open
Owner: nobody
Labels: webgui (15)
Priority: 5

On the disk management page, the gui dont show correctly all the disk on my systèm.
UPDATE #2 : Upgraded my system to 323 to see if there was any difference..added the two drives and now in this version it clearly indicates which drives labels are misaligned but it still does nothing to fix it!

Yes, currently it have no auto reorder, it may not want by every user.
Try click clear and import, it clear current disk config, and re-add all disks with correct serial.
Yes I did that initially but in doing so it completely destroys the existing raid arrays since they now reference incorrect disk IDs. If the disks can be identified (which they are) then the raid arrays should also be able to be updated to include the correct disks. The disks ids are so messed up that every array is effected. You can see this in the attachment.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
If you use Software RAID, you must run both "clear and import disks" and "clear and import raid disks".
This update all member of RAID, and update mount point depend on the array and individual disks.
