Hi everyone!
just installed "TheBrig" on my existing NAS4Free Fileserver and as descibed in this nice Howto also a Plex Jail (Full Jail Type).
Plex web GUI just works fine. I'm also able to add a library (fstabbed folder to my NAS4Free media folder) and the movies are well being scanned, and displayed with cover and Movie Info.
BUT: when I'm trying to play a movie inside my Browser (Firefox or Chrome) I get the following message: Cannot load M3U8: No levels to play
and opening on an Android or iOS device gives me this error: An unknown error occured (-12880) (and: on my mobile devices covers and movie info aren't displayed)
I've checked permissions of my movies folder and also checked the temp location of the transcoder. tried even everywhere with 777 permissions. But no luck.
I copied some movies to a local jail folder for testing, but it produces the same errors.
Downloading movies from Plex works.
My Server is a Core i5-4440S CPU @ 2.80GHz with 16Gb Ram with a 32TB RaidZ2
Versions:
*pms: Version 0.9.11.16 (the latest from the ports)
*NAS4Free: 9.3.0.2 - Nayla (revision 1349)
Does anyone have another idea?

Re: Cannot load M3U8: No levels to play
This appears to be related to where the temp transcoder directory is pointing to, there should be some error information in the logs, this is an extract from a synology thread, with the same error as yours. Obviously his path is not jail based but could be centred more around where Plex 'expects' to find the temp transcoder directory.....so if the directory path does not exist I assume it will fall over.
I did look at the logs of Plex Server and found that error:
Code: Select all
ERROR - Exception handled: boost::filesystem::temp_directory_path: Not a directory: "/volume1/Plex/tmp_transcoding"
Checking via telnet, I found that the right path should have been /volume1/Plex/Library/tmp_transcoding.
So, I did force that value via the Plex server > Settings > Transcoder > Show Advanced Settings > Transcoder temporary directory.
And BINGO !!!
