network connection error when copying from Synology NAS to Nas4Free

Post by Eminenz »

Hi guys,

I have got a strange problem. I want to data from my Sysnoloigy DS1513+ to my Nas4Free Fileserver (5 TB), mostly Videos. Whilst copying I get an error message regularly. It says that there is a network error and that I shall check the network connection. But ping is there. When I click on skip coyping proceeds until the next error. I changed network adapters, switch etc. But the problem stays the same.

I assumed that the error occurs when big files with more than 9GB are involved. But when copying them one by one there is no problem.

The Nas4Free server config is:
AsRock G31M-GS
CPU Intel Core2Quad 8500
2GB RAM
Areca ARC1231ML
NAS4Free 9.3.0.2 (1349)

Any ideas??

are you copying the files using the windows machine from your syn nas to nas4free?

if so try copying the data using ssh from nas4free.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

Hallo again. I have tried WinSCP b ut it is very slow, although cpu load is at 24%. I have to transfer Terabytes... Then I tried Filezilla, which is quite faster (80 MB/sec) but also get disconnects --> "critical error: attempt to establish connection failed" After 5 seconds Filezilla is logging in again but files for copying are skipped again.

Any ideas please?

no you ssh into the nas4free machine and then copy the files from the synology using commands on the nas4free machine link rsync.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.
