Folders not avail to Win7 (permissions)

Post by daveburt »

Hi Folks,

I need to restore some files from my backup NAS, and for some reason the folder I want access to gives the following error:

It's strange, but most of the other folders are available...
Anyone have a clue how I can restore access to that folder?

Thanks,
Dave

Just wanted to update this thread in case it may help someone else...

For some reason Windows was having problems trying to access the Backup NAS by it's name...
Mapping it by name didn't work either. Finally, I tried mapping the box by it's IP Address and all problems were solved!

Steps used:

From "My Computer" select the "Map network Drive" tab.
Then instead of browsing, and using the name from the tree (on the left) just enter the boxes IP Address.
EX: \\192.xxx.x.xxx\name (insert your info for x's and name)

Just glad I got my files back!!! 8-)

In Services in NAS4FREE you must enable the CIFS/SMB Protocol and in max protocol option must choose SMB2 for windows 7 to work.!

If you have done this and the Group you are using is WORKGROUP then the problem is on Windows ans as for NAS4FREE the permission you gave to your mount point at the beginning of your configuration. Try my Tutorial in the same section.. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8812#p53431
