Failed to create in-memory filesystem

Post by simonszu »

Hi,

i want to upgrade my NAS from 9.3.0.2.1391 to 1556. However, i cannot enable firmware upload. The error is "Failed to create in-memory filesystem". So i googled for this error and found http://nas4free-extensions.googlecode.c ... c.firmware (Yes, it is for 10 experimental, but i had a look what was going under the hood).
So there is this mdmfs-Command in "enable". I tried to execute it by hand, and it exited with error 1, which could be the reason for this error msg.

So, is there any way to debug this issue and to fix whatever has to be fixed to enable the firmware upload for 1556? I don't really want to carry the NAS to my desk and connect it to a screen again and install from scratch again like the upgrade from 9.2 to 9.3.

If you have swap, check swap usage on index.php.
If no swap, you need add swap or reboot before upgrading.

I have Swap, and index.php says that swap is 0% used.

reinstalling the system is easy.
save config. install new embedded on another usb stick. restore config. done

Yeah, but because reinstalling the whole system (which needs a screen and a keyboard and a external drive attached) only for an update, i'm done with N4F and migrating to Openmediavault now

just create the usb stick on another computer. thats like 5 min work.
then upload the config and move the usb stick to the server.

I can not reinstall to another stick because I'm using SSD for system drive. It's a disaster.
