It seems that Samba works best (every computer seeing all shares from all other computers and server) if I have N4F NOT be the local master browser.
It took me a while to figure this out - for the longest time N4F was my master browser, and access to shares was very inconsistent. Out of desperation, I unchecked the option, and voila! Everything is OK.
Is this normal? I thought it was best to have the always-on server be the master, but not so in my situation. My N4F is latest x64 9.3 embedded. My other computers are Windows 7 and a media player (powered by Linux w/ samba).

Re: N4F as local master browser
Hi,
Old thread but not too old to reopen.
I found the same thing, disabling master browser made it so the intermittent problem of other systems not seeing the nas went away and everything became stable for this.
