For "upgrading" from FreeNAS/NAS4Free Legacy to XigmaNAS and upgrading XigmaNAS to newer builds.

9.2.0.1 x86 embedded to 9.3.0.2 64bit embedded?

Post by tigerdog »

A few questions, please:
Is it possible to move from a 32-bit x86 embedded to a 64-bit embedded version?
Is a 32-bit config file compatible with a 64-bit installation?
Is it recommended to download the current config file, create a new embedded flash, restart then upload config?

If this upgrade path works, then one more question:
I currently have MiniDLNA installed. Is it recommended to uninstall/remove before saving the config and updating? and yes, I realized I'm going to have to tweak MiniDLNA or install a different server; I've found topics on both options for 9.3.

Many thanks in advance for good advice. :D

Well, save the config of 32 bit system.
Install 64 bit embedded Version on a new USB stick and boot from it.
Configure Network access from console
Access Weggui and restore the saved config.
Normally your then done, Reimport / rescan Disk Configuration may be required.

thanks, apollo. Since you suggest restoring the saved config, I guess the 2nd question's answer is "yes, 32 bit config is compatible with 64 bit install" :)
