Upgrade firmware not consistent whith other services

Post by raulfg3 »

I want to ask, why firmware upgrade page is not consistent as other system pages .

I refer to the enable / disable button, Why is not in the top like a mark/unmark check button like is in the SMB service for example?.

see screen captures.

no, no, no, you do not understand.

I have no problem, and all works fine.

my point is: why is not enable / disable firmware button like disable / enable SAMBA service ? <- to maintaint a coherent look

This is historical reason.
If you enable firmware upload, it creates 512MB of memory disk.
So, you can use only 1.5GB of physical memory if you have only 2GB physical memory.
It's no sense. firmware upgrade is one time operation. You don't need 512MB reservation always.

Recent N4F both 10.x and 9.3 use tmpfs instead of mdmfs.
It's more effective but we don't need it...
NAS4Free 10.2.0.2.2115 (x64-embedded), 10.2.0.2.2258 (arm), 10.2.0.2.2258(dom0)
