Hello
Is there or is there planned to have a way to upgrade NAS4Free full install from the console? Something like you upgrade a Debian Linux-Server using apt-get or Arch Linux using pacman? FreeBSD has freebsd-upgrade utility, can it be available for NAS4free too? https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?que ... &sektion=8
This is the old XigmaNAS forum in read only mode,

Re: Upgrade full install from console?
no, but I'm not a developer.
PD: if you want to easy upgrade from N4F webGUI, install embeded that is the recomended way.

It is just that I have a Proliant with 3 HDD and 8GB RAM what's suitable for a full install and a RAID 1 storage.

"Difficult to customize. Changes to the OS (deletions/modifications/plug-ins/additions) are not retained."
That's why I didn't chose Embedded back then, because I customized like own cron scripts, encrypted eMails, dyndns (ok could move this to the firewall but the other reasons remain)..

Re: Upgrade full install from console?
the latest embedded gives you a data partition on the usb stick.
you can store scripts there now.
dont know what you mean by encrypted mails though.

Re: Upgrade full install from console?
Well I wrote a php script, that sends smime encrypted mails for cronologic log status reporting because the frontend buildin mailer doesn't support encryption. It is stored in the root directory and called by custom cron job.
If I can execute from that data partition, I could store the script there I guess...
