Hi,
I am just configuring NAS4Free and chose to change the Guest account in CIFS/SMB Advanced settings from the default 'ftp' to something else - don't ask why, just playing.
But whenever I change it from ftp to something else, I can no longer access nas4free through windows explorer, I get an error message. When I revert it back to ftp, I can access it and see all shares.
What's going on here? My user is in the users section with the correct username/password. Is it recognising me as a guest? If so, why?
Thanks

Re: Changing Guest account from ftp to other breaks samba access
I believe it uses the "ftp" user account built in to N4F for permissions.... if you change the user account, I suspect it needs to be a valid N4F user with the right permissions set.
