hi
Windows7
Netgear C03100D router
I am trying to setup Plex on my NAS4FREE nasbox. I am failing at the first step of TheBrig setup as i can't fetch the code/file needed to create the jail. I then tried to ping / trace from inside nasbox and it couldn't find www.google.com.
(i can see nasbox across my network without issue)
Having searched, it seems that this could be a related to my DNS configuration? My understanding is that with the Telstra cable i can't use a static IP?
I have setup my ip4v and the gateway as 192.168.0.1 in nasbox.
Are there any specific settings i need to change on the router to enable me to be able to fetch the files?
Even once i do this am i going to be able to use Plex on the nasbox using the Netgear router? I have seen lots of threads which suggest latency issues with this router which don't seem to have been addressed yet?
eg
https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/ ... s-specific...
have posted also on telstra site but not much help so far.
thanks

If you can not ping http://www.google.com from NAS4Free, check DNS setting on page System|General Setup

Re: Can't ping from inside Nas4free so can't setup jail
thanks - i have just ran another ipconfig - i was using the gateway ip of the router not the DNS server ip. - so i can now ping correctly.
I read another thread that suggested that plex wouldn't work so well on versions below 9.3? I am on x86 v9.2.01 - should i upgrade to v10 first before trying to create the jail? It looks like i need to upgrade from scratch though as you can't upgrade from the gui with v9.2 - is that correct?
in which case i think the steps are..
backup config file
download x64 liveusb v10 (makes sense to go to 64bit version if going to upgrade - my cpu should support it E6750 core 2 duo)
install to new usb
boot from usb
config for webgui
start webgui
restore config file
