NAS4Free 10.2.0.2.1810 released (FreeBSD 10.2-RELEASE-P2)

Post by zoon01 »

The nas4free team is pleased to announce the release of 10.2.0.2.1810
This release directly replace rev.1803 because of some ssh/samba ad errors.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4fre ... .0.2.1810/

Everyone can upgrade from NAS4Free version 9.3.0.2.1310 or Higher.

README & CHANGELOG

NAS4Free Upgrade from below 9.3.0.2.1310 is NOT possible!!!
=====================================================
Upgrading NAS4Free "Embedded" or "Full" from any version below 9.3.0.2.1310 by webgui or from
LiveCD/USB is problematic, due a new size of boot partition & partition layout.
Please download and save your NAS4Free config to a safe place and backup all files from second
partition if you use boot disk as data disk.
INSTALL FROM SCRATCH IS THE ONLY WAY!
After installation you can restore your config.
Sorry for inconvenience.
** ! Tools to write extracted embedded file are not supported ! **
You must use the liveusb/CD for it's first installation!!!.

Install from scratch notes
======================
** Embedded.img.xz is only for upgrades by WEBGUI, do not extract and write to any media! **

Download NAS4Free livecd or liveusb and boot from it.
The compressed LiveUSB.img.gz needs to be extracted before you can write it to usb media,
you can use it with Win32DiskImager or any other tool.
Press 9 for the install menu and perform an embedded installation.

Upgrade note:
============
You must associate CARP with physical interface explicitly after upgrading to 10.X.
You may need modifying your NFS and AFP share setting.
You may need modifying your ftp setting, no longer SSL is supported (only TLS).
Send Buffer Size/Receive Buffer Size in CIFS/SMB is changed to 128480 since 9.3.0.2.1375.
/var and /var/tmp size has changed.
After the upgrade please do make a new backup of your config System|Backup/Restore.

Extended GUI note!
Don't use current Extended GUI on 10.2.0.2 series yet, disable it first before upgrade.

ZFS User note!
After upgrading, you must re-sync ZFS configuration from Disks|ZFS|Configuration|Synchronize.

Requirements
============
Embedded: 2GB CF/USB/SSD (NAS4free "Embedded" is Recommended Install)
Full: 4GB HDD/SSD (For developers and some advanced users, Not Recommended!)
Swap less: physical memory 2GB or higher needed.
With swap: physical memory 512MB + swap 512MB (swap 1024MB recommended).

*Note: LiveCD is not supported on swap mode except installation and upgrading.

BUILD 10.2.0.2.1810

No DLNA working on 10.x.x-x releases, can we expect a fix in the near future?

DLNA/UPnP is broken, I reproduced in NAS4Free 10.2.0.2.1810 embedded and full.
After starting the service the process fuppesd show up with the state of nanslp then it closes after few seconds while watching processes on top, and no errors about the crash where logged in the fuppes.log.

Strangely this is what Plex do on NAS4Free 10.x, start and closes in few seconds, but at least Plex throw the following error: kernel: pid 2023 (Plex Media Server), uid 972: exited on signal 6, although Plex run perfectly fine on plain FreeBSD 10.2, but I haven't tested fuppes yet.

Hope devs will find solution to the problem soon.

Hello:

Not trying to be disrespectful.

The link you provided shows a temporary work around. The last item in the thread comes form dev Daoyama indicating the following:

Thank you for reporting.
That is caused by undefined symbol in libmetadata_libavformat.so.

It was resolved in SVN r1814.
Please wait next build.

Asking the obvious, being this was reported regarding build 10.1.0.2 (build 1731) per radek.cerny and the current ver is 10.2.0.2 (1810), why wasn't this resolved? How many more builds does one have to wait before it IS resolved?

Again I'm not trying to be disrespectful I'm only asking because it will be swept under the carpet (never a good thing) or a new solution needs to be found.

Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings but I'm curious as to why it wasn't resolved in the next build when Daoyama indicated it was resolved per SVN r1814.

Confused.

I've just upgraded to rev.1814 and after making a clean install it seems to be O.K.
Thanks for the quick response.

Meanwhile I have corrected myself. Previously I have just simply upgraded ,but the problem remained. After that I've made a clean install and now it is O.K.
Probably the problem was caused some fragments of the previous dlna's I've tried when fuppes didn't work. (minidlna ,Plex)
So sorry for the first notice. Thanks again for the fix.
