Upgrade 9.2.0.1 Full to 9.3.0.2 embedded

Post by BBQdrew »

Hello all,

I have a question about upgrading to 9.3.0.2.1771. I moved to 9.2.0.1 when I migrated over from FreeNAS a while ago, with help from this forum. But it seems that, in a fit of madness, I did a Full install instead of an embedded install. (Whoops) Having done some reading, all of the recommendations point to doing an embedded install. I can live with that, as I recall reading somewhere I can do an embedded install on a HDD?

In full disclosure, the System page's "Platform OS" line reads as follows: x64-full on Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz.

At any rate, I'm just looking to see if anyone has any thoughts, advice (or mockery at my foolhardiness), or any ideas about the best way to approach this. I want to do this upgrade so I can install the Brig, which current version will NOT run on 9.2.0.3 (drat).

My NAS is primarily for data storage, but I'm hoping to get more out of it than just holding pictures and book reports, particularly the OwnCloud I've seen written about.

Thanks, and Cheers from Maryland's Eastern Shore!

Andy

Hi Andy,

Save the config of your full install.
disable the harddisk with this install and reinstall an embedded Version onto an USB stick.
Then restore the config - you are done.
You can reactivate the harddisk again and configure/format it for future pure storage use.

Thanks, Apollo!

This looks easy enough and I'll be knocking this out in the next day or so.

I appreciate the quick response!

Thanks again, and Cheers from Maryland's Eastern Shore
