Auto snapshotting like Solaris Timeslider or OSX Time Machine

Post by Parkcomm »

Currently you can snapshot your ZFS filesystems every day using Disks|ZFS|Snapshots|Auto Snapshot which is fantastic tool.

However a more modern approach to snapshotting snapshots at various time horizons and then rapidly deletes. Defaults values could look like below.

Code: Select all

Service Name Interval Keep
AutoDSnapshot:Frequent 15 Minutes 4
AutoDSnapshot:Hourly 1 Hour 24
AutoDSnapshot:Daily 1 Day 31
AutoDSnapshot:Weekly 7 Days 4
AutoDSnapshot:Monthly 1 Month 12
