Upgrade and convert Full to embedded (on HDD)

Post by Morrio »

Hi,
at the moment i'm running Version 10.1.0.2 and want to update to the newest Version.

At the same time i want to convert my Full Installation to an embedded on my SSD.

Is this possible with the option
"Upgrade and convert 'full' OS to 'embedded'"
in the installation menu?

Is there something special what i have looking for?

nothing. you can install the embedded version on a ssd.

but then the ssd would just sit and idle in your system.

when the embedded install starts. it transfers its entire file system into ram and is only ever used if you make changes to the config.

Hi,

finally i had time to try it.
First i removed my SSD from the NAS. After that i installed embedded Version on a USB-Stick.
Because of the IP-Adress was shown with 192.168.1.250 with isn't right i chose option
"2 Configure Network IP Adress" with DHCP.

Then i get the error

WARNING: /cf was not properly dismounted
Bus error

After i can't do anything instead of a hard shutdown.

Any ideas?

try one time more, this time use option 1 first to select your NIC, reboot, use option 2 to sel DHCP, reboot
this time you can log in webGUI and restore previosly saved config.

PD: perhaps you can ommit step 2 if you want to open 192.168.1.250 in explorer and restore config.

post more info, about your motherboard, and about your install.

must work, try to install 10.1.0.2 embeded and restore config, once embeded works fine for you try to upgrade from webGUI to 10.2.x
