Hi all, have just moved my NAS setup into its new home (from a homebuild from an old pc into a HP N54L). All went smooth and is looking good.
I was just wondering now about upgrading to the latest version of Nas4free.
Im currently on 9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972) x86.
Can I upgrade to NAS4Free-x64-embedded-10.2.0.2.1962, and if so, can I do it through the webgui option? (noting it would be going from 32 bit to 64 bit OS).
cheers

Re: upgrade from 9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972)
No you need install it from the scratch, please read the release notes:
viewtopic.php?f=78&t=9760
"Upgrading NAS4Free "Embedded" or "Full" from any version below 9.3.0.2.1310 by webgui or from
LiveCD/USB is problematic, due a new size of boot partition & partition layout.
Please download and save your NAS4Free config to a safe place and backup all files from second
partition if you use boot disk as data disk.
INSTALL FROM SCRATCH IS THE ONLY WAY!
After installation you can restore your config."
So safe your config file, install the latest N4F, import your previously saved config.

Re: upgrade from 9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972)
Also updating from 9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972) to 10.2.0.2.2118 with LiveUSB. Followed these steps and everything seemed to be going smoothly until I tried to restore my old config. The xml file loads and the machine reboots, but no changes are applied. Is there an obvious reason why this wouldn't work?crowi wrote:So safe your config file, install the latest N4F, import your previously saved config.

looks like you run in Live mode and did not install it.

Re: upgrade from 9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972)
i have a question about upgrading from 9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972) embedded; i understand i have to install N4F from scratch to upgrade in order to avoid issues.
what i need to know is aside from creating a backup of my configuration and reloading it once the updated version has been installed, is there anything else i need to do to prepare the existing RAIDZ1 array for operation with the new version of N4F, or does it just detect the array as it was and continue working as before?
also, i just purchased an LSI 9240-8i controller card to add to the system so i can expand past the 8 onboard SATA ports. i have read a bit about different firmware versions working (or not) with certain versions of N4F; is there something that tells which firmware versions are stable/recommended for each version of N4F?
