Re: Control and save ip camera output - zoneminder

wow, there is lots of info on their wiki page. mostly making sence of it, but for me a big brain ache making my head understand it then interoperate it and then understanding it for nas4free.
Do i need to "build ZoneMinder from source" the wiki states "Installation via the traditional build-from-source method is discouraged." the other options are installing from RPM, .deb and docker?
seems a few trials have not bee successful viewtopic.php?f=79&t=5293&p=55580&hilit ... der#p55580

has anyone installed it successfully, presuming within jail?

Zoneminder is indeed a great piece of software, but frankly, really difficult to configure.
My surveillance server is running ubuntu server and have installed motion.
There is also motioneye which cooperates with motion and provides a rather elegant webui for motion.
Latest 10.x n4f versions include vbox, so perhaps it would be a good idea to install a linux vm and give them a try.
Relevant links, in case you want to try:
