help... i did a factory reset option on the start menu not knowing i would loose my pool and drive information.....i was able to add the drives back and re-sincronize my zfs pool so i got my pool back and it shows info about it that it has data but now theres no volume. how do i get my volume with all my data back. i.m assuming i have to reimport it somehow but i.m new to nas4free and i.m not shure how to do this. thanks.

go to webGUI and sync realdata on ZFS disk with webGUI:
http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=do ... ynchronize

ok yes i did that already and after setting a new share i was able to access the data again...but theres still no volume listed under volumes in the pool. and i thought shure when i created the initial pool i created a volume in the pool. does it matter that theres no volume listed now? i still have access to the data in the pool. i'm confused alittle

Re: help! i lost my zfs volume after i factory reset accidently!
Hey Jason - zfs has two ways of storing data, datasets (look like directories) and zvol (look like disks) - if you created a zvol and did the old synchronise trick your zvols should show up under Disks|ZFS|Volumes|Volume in the gui. If you don't see it hit the information tab, and see if it appears there.
If however your data was created as datasets it will appear under Disks|ZFS|Datasets|Dataset
Does this help?

Re: help! i lost my zfs volume after i factory reset accidently!
i get how its supposed to work. but thats not what i.m seeing.....when i first set this up i created a virtual device with all 3 hard drives that i wanted....then i created a 8tb pool. which shows up under pools...but then i thought i created an 8tb volume in volumes right after that which showed up when i clicked the volumes tab....but after i reset the machine to factory....i lost all those setting and had to readd the disks in disk management then resync my zpool which i did and i recreated a new share pointing to the root of the pool which gave me access to my files again but when i click on volumes theres nothing there.....when i click on voumes and click the information tab i get info on what looks like some kind of root volume but nothing is listed on the volumes list! so i'm just wondering just what i created and if its gonna be ok like this or if its gonna dissapear or not be fixable if a drive goes bad or what i dont know!
looks like this.....

Re: help! i lost my zfs volume after i factory reset accidently!
If that is the output of Disks|ZFS|Volumes|Volume ZFS dataset properties - then it looks like you have just one dataset, the root of the pool. Such a config is fine. (You don't need a zvol for zfs to work)
Just to be sure there is no can you provide the output of
