Hi,
I do have an LSI megaraid controller with 5 ssd disks (4x480,1x110). I am trying to figure out the raid setup. Our server won't support IT mode and looking to configure JBOD configurations with raid0. I am looking to install the NAS4Free iso on the small SSD disk and rest of the ssd to use for zpool configuration with raid10 or raidz2. I am not configuring a raid for the installation drive and I think we can't use the installation drive for pool setup. But I have some doubts,
1) If the installation drive become fails, then should it does make any issues with zfs storage node?, But we are not creating raid for installation drive and can't use it for zfs as well.
2) Should I need two drives(like two small ssd drive) for preventing data loss and I think If we have two small drives for installation then we configure raid1 for the drives,
Please advice me

Re: Hardware raid setup for NAS4Free
use an embedded usb stick for nas4free.
safe the config.
if the usb stick dies, just install nas4free on a another usb stick, restore config and you are back up and running.
what lsi controller do you have?
JBOD is not the same as raid0. they are two different things.
from what i can tell you want speed. or otherwise you would not be using ssds.
zfs might not be the best choice for speed.
be aware that not all controllers give you good performance with ssds.
tell us more about your hardware and the scenario that you are trying to accomplish.
