When trying to install on a PC with 1GB memory I get the following: live cd requires 2gb memory
Stops at this point and not allowing me to go further

It means you need 2GB for using LiveCD version of NAS4Free features such as file sharing.
You can install NAS4Free to USB flash drive or HDD/SSD anytime.
You can run LiveUSB or installed version of NAS4Free on 1GB memory.
