HOW TO UPGRADE? i not find guide...

Post by simo_zio »

Hi guys,
http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php don't work and I have not found the informations here.

I have installed NAS4Free-x86-10.2.0.2.1868.img on Acer EQ965RT Core2@2.40GHz with 3GB ram.

1) if I would like upgrade to 10.2.0.2.2003, via gui i see same images with "System | firmware upgrade" page, but i don't have it, it possible? I must make a new install?

2) if I would like upgrade from x86 to x64, it is possible upgrade or I have to do a new install? If i save configuration file, install from usb, restore configuration file. It's correct or after that the partitions on disk are destroyed and i lost anything?

thx

yes, perhaps you do a full or live install, please post a screen capture of your system page to see if say embeded , live or full install.

PD: To upgrade from WebGUI you need to have a embeded install

not possible by WebGUI, but you can do a new embeded install and restore config.

all must work and you can`t lose data, but remember that have a backup of important data is always a good point.

Do a embedded installation, it is recommended and it supports upgrades via webgui

Code: Select all

1 install EMBEDDED OS/MBR on HDD/SSD/CF/USB
2 install EMBEDDED OS/GPT for over 2TB bootdisk
3 upgrade EMBEDDED OS from LiveCD/LiveUSB
-
4 install EMBEDDED OS/MBR without SWAP
5 install FULL OS on HDD/SSD + DATA + SWAP
6 install FULL OS from LiveCD/LiveUSB
7 upgrade and convert FULL OS to EMBEDDED
5 FULL installation is worse than 1 EMBEDDED?

So,
with "install EMBEDDED OS/MBR on HDD/SSD/CF/USB" i lost everything (nothing important)...
- install
- import configuration
- reload
- there was a "pount of mount" error. There was a "retry" link near. I clicked on, but the same situation. I opened the pount of mount option, click on "save and reload"... it was the end. The error was disappeared, but every file/directory inside.

So, the UPGRADE DOES NOT SAVE THE FILES AND FOLDERS.

thx :)
