NAS4Free 10.2.0.2.2067 released (FreeBSD 10.2-RELEASE-P7)

Post by zoon01 »

The nas4free team is pleased to announce the release of 10.2.0.2.2067

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4fre ... .0.2.2067/

Everyone can upgrade from NAS4Free version 9.3.0.2.1310 or Higher.

README & CHANGELOG

NAS4Free Upgrade from below 9.3.0.2.1310 is NOT possible!!!
=====================================================
Upgrading NAS4Free "Embedded" or "Full" from any version below 9.3.0.2.1310 by webgui or from
LiveCD/USB is problematic, due a new size of boot partition & partition layout.
Please download and save your NAS4Free config to a safe place and backup all files from second
partition if you use boot disk as data disk.
INSTALL FROM SCRATCH IS THE ONLY WAY!
After installation you can restore your config.
Sorry for inconvenience.
** ! Tools to write extracted embedded file are not supported ! **
You must use the liveusb/CD for it's first installation!!!.

Install from scratch notes
======================
** Embedded.img.xz is only for upgrades by WEBGUI, do not extract and write to any media! **

Download NAS4Free livecd or liveusb and boot from it.
The compressed LiveUSB.img.gz needs to be extracted before you can write it to usb media,
you can use it with Win32DiskImager or any other tool.
Press 9 for the install menu and perform an embedded installation.

Upgrade note:
============
You must associate CARP with physical interface explicitly after upgrading to 10.X.
You may need modifying your NFS and AFP share setting.
You may need modifying your ftp setting, no longer SSL is supported (only TLS).
Send Buffer Size/Receive Buffer Size in CIFS/SMB is changed to 128480 since 9.3.0.2.1375.
/var and /var/tmp size has changed.
After the upgrade please do make a new backup of your config System|Backup/Restore.

ZFS User note!
After upgrading, you must re-sync ZFS configuration from Disks|ZFS|Configuration|Synchronize.

Requirements
============
Embedded: 2GB CF/USB/SSD (NAS4free "Embedded" is Recommended Install)
Full: 4GB HDD/SSD (For developers and some advanced users, Not Recommended!)
Swap less: physical memory 2GB or higher needed.
With swap: physical memory 512MB + swap 512MB (swap 1024MB recommended).

*Note: LiveCD is not supported on swap mode except installation and upgrading.

Is it possible with future upgrades to list ONLY those features that have changed since the previous version? Most of the the changes listed above are from previous firmware versions.

Forget about it. :-D Me & few others raised that request during few releases of 9.3 of we were told to f_* off (not literally) and look into commit browser (which is really not containg lots of other not_so_important changes). :lol:

Something wrong with Syncthing

I define folder and push Save and restart button. Syncthing build config, but not started - webgui was not accessable, sockets not opened
Then I push Save and restart - and service begin to run fine.
May be need use "Apply" ?

Initial startup is very slow since it must create encryption key at first boot. (especially CPU is slow clock.)
You need wait for few secs before opening GUI.

Also Syncthing give permissions for his folders as 700, and owner as syncthing. So as result , mtdiafiles is not readable by another Unix users, such samba or dlna.

Also please remove /usr/local/etc/minidlna.conf.sample and /usr/local/etc/rc.d/minidlna

What directory do you say? If you say about Home directory at NAS4Free WebGUI, it must use 700 for encryption keys.
You must create own folder for sharing and add it to Syncthing GUI.

I think it is not related to NAS4Free. What permission is used for child directory (browser-images etc)?

Unless my linux to freebsd translation is wrong, that looks like the wrong device ID. Isn't usb /dev/da1 or something of that sort? Luckily you can just reimage the usb stick, since it's an img file. Rufus or dd away and try again and let us know if it's the crap usb stick or the config is off.

And(topic shift) my upgrade went fine on an old SSD, but CIFS started getting chatty with

"nmbd[83726]: query_name_response: Multiple (2) responses received for a query on subnet",

so I had to slap it in the face and bind 139 with this in aux parameters:

bind interfaces only = YES
interfaces = x.x.x.x
smb ports = 139

Now it's shut up. Which is nice. In any case, let us know how the usb stick goes.

I reinstalled using a live CD and all was OK after restoring the config file.

A second NAS4Free server which uses a IDE based CF upgraded without problems using the same img file that caused problems above.

Upgraded from 1814 and almost everything works, yay for minidlna! =)
But ataidle and smartd services are not started after boot...
Edit: Never mind, it is most likely my fault. I'll investigate further.

but... what have been change regarding UFS / umask in this release?

I'm going to abadon the UFS alon disks and have to migrate them to zfs since:

issue:

Code: Select all

- mounted with acls support (ufs, local, journaled soft-updates, acls)
- directory owned by user:group with 770 permissions
 - acl	getfacl /mnt/UFSTEST/test
	# file: /mnt/UFSTEST/test
	# owner: user
	# group: group
	user::rwx
	group::rwx              # effective: ---
	group:TEST:r-x         # effective: ---
	group:TEST1:rwx              # effective: ---
	group:TEST2:rwx               # effective: ---
	mask::---
	other::---
logged in with user test who is participating in any of the TEST1-3 group
have no access via shell... ofcourse nor samba
