mfiutil and megaraid controller

Post by monty »

Dear All,

I have an unlucky configuration with a megaraid controller without jbod or passthrugh mode. So I made a raid configuration with the hardware card under nas4free. I would like check the disks, and I found the mfiutil, which is not part of the nas4free. How can I install this package or how can I check the disks status from console?

thank you very much

Hi:
You have 2 options:
You can create a FreeBSD DVD 9.X and boot into SHELL mode.
Then you can use mfiutil as you like to check your drives or battery voltage.

or:
You can create a jail in your Nas4free system with all FreeBSD software install.

Both these methods worked for me. Create a jail took me some time but once you have it working. Just have to logged into your Jail and start using mfiutil like you just boot from a DVD.

There is nothing wrong using these megaraid cards or perc cards. I've been using them and it took a little time to figure them out.
