When setting up an rsync server XigmaNAS daemonises RSYNC. A client machine then connects to RSYNC daemon and issues commands to either copy files from the cline to the server or from the server to the client.
The server sets up directories as modules, which can have their own permissions and security as well as their own path. A module can have subdirectories.
The only parameters that are necessary on the server are default user (each module has its own user) and port. For most usages the port can be safely left at the default value of 873.
The MoTD is a simple message that appears on the clients machine at the beginning of the transfer.
Auxiliary parameters can also be used in accordance with rsyncd.conf man page
