Q: What should I check before reporting a problem or posting a question in the Forum?
A: Really, you should check everything before posting!
Know your hardware configuration and your XigmaNAS version/revision/platform.
You should always review logs for any error messages.
Check all connections for loose or bad cables.
Check drives to make sure they are in good working order.
Check your RAM to make sure it is good. Run at least 2 iterations of Memtest without errors.
Check that you configured all required settings in the WebGUI and that the configuration has been saved.
Did you modify any default settings in the WebGUI? If you did, try deleting the service/share and doing it again, or resetting to factory defaults and configuring everything again using the defaults. Don't modify default settings until you know exactly what you are doing!
Search the Forums to see if your issue has already been addressed.
If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, create a topic / thread that includes all the information you gathered in the previous steps and includes all information requested by the forum Rules & Guidelines.
