zfs:pool
ZFS Pools
Pools are the basic storage unit of ZFS. Whether the pool is a partition, a single drive, or some form of raid array, the pool is, at the same time, the entire storage space, and the root filesystem of the device.
Some variables are set, and locked during pool creation, and are not able to be modified after pool creation. This means that special care should be taken when crafting a pool, if you want those settings to be something other than the default.
